PROGRAMME AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The aim of this program is to produce versatile graduates who understand both the theory and practice of monitoring and evaluation.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A recognized first degree from this or another recognized University. Preference will be accorded to applicants with work experience in Monitoring and Evaluation or a related field

DURATION OF STUDY

The programme shall be taught over a period of at least one (1) academic year of full time, block or parallel modes of study.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Candidates graduating with this qualification can work in a variety of social science environments primarily as Monitoring and Evaluation specialists. They can also work as Programme and Project Managers. Holders of this qualification are also resource people in social science research as this program is inclined towards research specialization.

PROGRAMME AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • The programme is designed to impart advanced theoretical and practical skills in monitoring and evaluation in order to improve the design, implementation and outcomes of social programmes.
  • The main objective of the programme is to produce highly qualified evaluation personnel to spearhead the evaluation of development programmes and public policies.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • To be admitted to this program prospective students should normally hold an upper second class honours degree in Monitoring and Evaluation or an equivalent from this or another recognised institution, OR
  • Any first degree plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from a recognised university.

DURATION OF STUDY

The duration of the Master of Social Science Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation shall be three (3) semesters of full-time study.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates from this programme can work as:

Academics, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Directors, Evaluation Consultants, Non-governmental Organisation Managers, Social Science Researchers, Public Sector Managers and Policy Analysts amongst other responsibilities.
