A bursar is a professional financial administrator in a school or university.

Bindura University of Science Education Bursar 

Mr Brian C. Hodza is the current University Bursar. He has overall responsibility for finance matters including fund raising for capital projects, revenue generation, financial planning, treasury management and investments, budgetary planning and financial discipline. In this role, he plays a prominent part in the governance process of the institution through membership to key committees such as the Senate, Budget and Planning, Finance, Audit, Quality Assurance and Tender Valuation Committees. He is also the Principal Officer of the University’s Pension Fund.

Prior to joining the University, Mr Hodza worked for Grant Thornton (Zimbabwe) from July 2007 to March 2015 in various positions. He rose through the system to be a manager, Senior Manager and ultimately, Director. He also worked in various capacities and diverse locations for the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority and one of its forerunners, the Department of Customs and Excise.

Mr Hodza has international work exposure acquired through working for Grampian Country Pork in the United Kingdom, where he gained diverse experience from this highly automated and computerised food process environment. In addition to that more fixed role he also did retail operation jobs with Mark and Spencer and ASDA, the United Kingdom subsidiary of the United States retail giant, Walmart.

Mr Brian C. Hodza (FCCA) is a holder of a BSc Economics (Honours) degree from the University of Zimbabwe as well as a BSc in Applied Accounting (Honours) degree from Oxford Brookes University. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

He has been actively involved in ACCA activities including being a member of the ACCA (Zimbabwe) Network Panel or Executive between 2010 and 2015. He has also been a member of ACCA Global Forum for SMEs. He has also represented ACCA Zimbabwe in technical committees of the Public Accounts and Auditors (PAAB) namely, the Education and Auditing Practices Committees.
